2009 Tournament Review

Thank you to golfers and sponsors of the first annual Students First Fund Golf Tournament sponsored by Rockville Bank. An impressive 101 golfers came together on Friday, May 1, 2009 at The University Club of Connecticut (formerly The Willimantic Country Club) to enjoy a day of golf and support a great cause – the Students First Fund. Thanks to the great support of those involved, the tournament raised over $14,000 for the Students First Fund.

The Students First Fund is a donor-supported fund created by the Division of Student Affairs to allow the university community to demonstrate their care and concern for students in need. The Students First Fund provides limited financial or logistical support to students who experience an unanticipated hardship that compromises that student’s ability to be a dynamic participant in the UConn community.

In addition to a great, although somewhat damp, round of golf, attendees took full advantage of the silent auction to further support the cause. Items such as signed 2009 UConn Men’s and Women’s Basketballs to time shares to golf outings to a variety of baskets were auctioned off following a delicious lunch.

Thanks again to all golfers, sponsors, the UConn Foundation and Nichols College’s Event Management and Production Class for making this day possible. We look forward to seeing everyone again next year on Friday, June 4, 2010!
